What Is AudioLink XT and How Is It Different From AudioLink?

If you have (or had) RONDO 3, SONNET, or SONNET 2, then you’re probably familiar with AudioLink. But if you’re upgrading to SONNET 3, then you may have noticed there’s a newer device called AudioLink XT. Let’s take a look at the differences between the two devices.

using AudioLink XT to watch tv

AudioLink is a universal connectivity device compatible with SONNET, SONNET 2, and RONDO 3. But with the release of our latest audio processor, SONNET 3, came AudioLink XT. It is directly compatible with SONNET 3, but users of older audio processors can also use it via AudioStream or the AudioStream Adapter.

Newly Integrated Features

There is an FM Adapter available for AudioLink XT. Simply plug the tiny adapter into AudioLink XT to make it capable of receiving FM broadcasts. With AudioLink, receiving FM broadcasts was only possible with the FM cover that fits over the audio processor itself. This new solution with AudioLink XT means no added weight—especially great for little ears.

Another new feature of AudioLink XT is the integrated telecoil, ideal for hearing well in large, echoey venues.

Garry, SONNET 3 User

“I use AudioLink XT at some meetings where I plug in a personal telecoil loop supplied by the venue and stream the proceedings directly to my implant.”

Russ, SONNET 3 User

“I was implanted with MED-EL only 14 months ago, so my hearing is not perfect yet, but with the help of the AudioLink XT, I was able to clearly hear every word of the cricket commentary for the first time in over 40 years.”

Tried and True Features

But don’t worry: Your favorite features of AudioLink are also available with AudioLink XT. Both devices can function as a remote microphone. And they also can be used for streaming from non-smart TVs.

Garry, SONNET 3 User

“The best use I find for the AudioLink XT is when I’m out walking or cycling with a friend. Having them wear it means I can always hear what’s being said, no matter how noisy the street environment is.”
