Tips for Wearing Your Audio Processor

Here are some additional tips to help you achieve the goal of wearing your audio processor(s) every day:

To Get Started

  • Wear your processor(s) all the time at home.
  • Walk around the house and make some sounds (e.g., turn the kettle on, open and close doors, ring the doorbell, etc.).
  • If any sounds are too loud, uncomfortable, or painful, tell your hearing professional at once.

As You Progress

  • Try to wear your processor(s) all the time at home and some of the time when you are out and about.
  • If any sounds are too loud, uncomfortable, or painful, tell your hearing professional at once.

Once You’re Almost There

  • Wear your processor(s) all the time you are awake—at home, when out and about, and in noisy and difficult situations.
  • If there is any reason you can’t do this (e.g., the vacuum cleaner sounds awful), tell your hearing professional.

Download a CI Use Chart to keep track of how many hours you wear your audio processor or use the AudioKey 2 – App for MED-EL Cochlear Implants (medel.com).

My sister-in-law just had cochlear implant surgery and her activation date is tomorrow (May 1, 2024). She chose a Med-El processor. As a family member that lives very close by and will be a family support member, is it possible for me to sign up for your Blog? Is there any other information you have that is helpful for family members to help those who have been wearing hearing aids for approximately 25 years?
